Anthony Del Negro wowed FrightFest crowds last year with his superb paranormal chiller LadyBug, and now he's back with another original movie so we caught up with this talenet creative.
NYX: I can’t believe it’s a year since we last chatted about your superb slasher Ladybug, did you go straight into production with Don’t Let the Cat Out or have you been busy with other projects too?
ADN: We went straight into production on Cat… wasted no time!
NYX: It’s a bizarre, paranormal horror, how would you describe it?
ADN: It’s my love letter to Pet Cematary.
NYX: Your character, Charlie really goes through it, was it a tough shoot for you?
ADN: The hardest part was moving around in that pet crawler.
NYX: What was it like wearing the “cat gimp” suit?
ADN: I sweat and probably lost ten pounds wearing it.
NYX: What did the rest of the cast think when they saw you in your various costumes?
ADN: I would try to scare them on and off set in them.
NYX: What was the atmosphere like on set as there’s some crazy stuff going on?
ADN: The house we were shooting in was in Old Louisville - definitely was haunted. I definitely felt some spirits in the cat den watching over us.
NYX: I love the subtle Batman Returns nod at the end, whose idea was that?
ADN: Our production designer Elizabeth Rallis!
NYX: Do you believe in reincarnation?
ADN: I do! Our souls live on.
NYX: Will you be nervous when the movie has its UK premiere at FrightFest 2025?
ADN: I’m so excited - the UK audience has been so kind and loving of the genre.
NYX: You’re a multi-talented person, how would you describe yourself as you act, produce, write to name just a few jobs you do?
ADN: I just love to work in any capacity. Wearing multiple hats is always fun.
NYX: So, what are you up to next?
ADN: We just wrapped an 8-episode thriller mystery series called WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO DAISY, directed by Scout Taylor Compton.
NYX: Anthony Del Negro, thank you very much.
